2003 Clio 172
Afternoon all
I've owned my 172 for two days and I'm already smitten with it. Such a rewarding car to drive and very much a wolf in sheep's clothing. I've owned an 11 turbo and a clio 1.8 16v in the past and also driven a Williams and the 172 feels very much like the Williams, which is definitely a good thing. I bought the car fairly cheaply locally and took a bit of a risk as it had no service history, although it's only covered just over 72k. After looking through the mot history that came with the car I noticed that a couple had been done at Renatec in Bristol. I gave them a call on the off chance they may have some history on the car, although I didn't really expect to find anything. Turns out the guy who answers the phone used to own my car and he talked me through work that had been done. Car came to him with a slipped cambelt, so it's had a full top end rebuild along with cambelt, water pump and dephaser pully. This was in 2014 and only 10k ago, so at least I have another year and a bit until I need to worry about the next cambelt change. Anyway, apologies for the long post, but as you can probably tell I'm chuffed. Now I just need to remove the brake fluid I inadvertently put in the power steering reservoir, but that's another story!
