New 182

  FF 182/Alfa 147
Joined this site recently whilst looking at a 182 to try and get info on what to look for. Have now bought it and absolutely love it. Drive a Merc CL63 at work and it never makes me grin in the same way! Wanted to put a couple of questions out there though about my the 182 (Am sure they've been asked before and for that I apologise!!!)

1) Should I take the white stripes off? I looked on the Renault Sport website and not that many were specified with stripes (this one was - they weren't added later). Also I wonder if I would be left with two paler blue stripes on the bodywork if they were removed?

2) Is there any way of telling if it has any cup packs? It has the larger spoiler and graphite wheels, but no front spoiler although wonder if that may have been lost at some point? The suspension seems pretty stiff on it.

Any thoughts welcomed!

Not so many had the spoiler/wheels/splitter but not the cup suspension. I wouldn't worry about it, the difference in handling is minimal. Some would say imperceptible.

Cheers - it's just the geek in me wants to know.... The handling is pretty good whatever!

IMO the ride is a bit harsh on the non Cup suspension. I'd be getting the stripes off though if i were you. Just prefer them without :)

I do prefer it without the stripes, but they are original, and part of me would like to keep it that way....

I guess I also need to have a look under the front and see if there's any sign that it did have a splitter on the front....

You can measure the hub to damper spacing as well to check if it has cup pack suspension or not. 54mm is non-cup and 60mm is cup spec suspension.

I'm mixed about the strips, Like them on some and not on others. You planning on doing much to it?

Thanks for the info.... Might go and take a look properly tomorrow.... I'm truly undecided about the stripes. As for the car itself, I actually want to keep it original. It needs new pads and two new tyres, which I'll get sorted and one of the alloys needs some attention. After that, I just plan on enjoying it!

I thought the original Renault stripes when spec'd only went as a far as the top of the RS badge and top of the plate recess where as yours seem to go all the way down the back bumper as well. It's the same with the 200 and Twingo Gordini, they don't go on to the bumpers.

Like that.

Oh! Thanks!! I didn't know that... Perhaps they were added later then? In which case, I won't mind taking them off!
