New Boy from Scotland

Hi guys, new on here and just got a clio 182 tonight, will get a picture or two up when I can but none at the moment.

hoping to pick a few brains and have a bit of a project going with the Clio as a fast road/track car.

Also do a bit of knockhill, seen a few of you's before and raced a few as well, was up at knockhill on the 7th of July there one or two might recognise my track car.

actually goes well and only suffered from a blown out tyre on the 7th otherwise was running well, actually looking to move it on mind you...... but back to the Clio!! its a 04 plate with loads of history, and in decent nick, needs tyres, pads and discs at the moment but long term looking to maybe change the alloys to speedlines, uprate suspension, a few cheeky mods and so on.

 so Hi all :star:

I'm from loch lomond, bit out from Glasgow, not miles away. what about yourself? you wouldn't be the one with the blue 172 that was in group 1 with the MG on the 7th would you?

I do have a blue 172 cup but i wasn't on track - that'll probably have been .Gaz. on here!

I'm over the south-side of Glasgow but work in Gourock!

Welcome along mate, recognise the mg and will no doubt see you up at kh :)

yeah mate hopefully so!

well today was day one, and what better to do than have a good look about fault finding...

had a good look about underneath and no horrors to tell, what I think I do have wrong is the following

1. a warped disc on the front
2. a blow from the exhaust front to centre somewhere
3. I suspect a noisy water pump? or could it be a pulley?

the car has had a new belt and even a full new aircon system, over 3k worth of receipts so good point there, going in to the garage tomorrow and getting a proper check out. so maybe a bit to report then.

it has both cup packs, so cruise control etc all there, I believe that in Clio chat is FF :)

I want to give up on the MG so got that's up on gumtree, and the Clio is not a daily runner as I have a work van so only really a weekend toy. ideally the plan is to 1st fix the issues it has, and get it running well. after that I plan to turn into a fast road / track car... more so road at the mo! would love to have it sitting about 220-250bhp but that's is not going to happen over night.

if it turns out to be a ''Good one'' then it will more and likely have a cheeky day out on the track.

what I'm after is all the in's and outs of them, the good and bad bits, will put a build project up when I get up and going with it. done one with the track ZS on themgzs.co.uk forum and it got a good response and lots of info... as I ain't a rover man haha!! more a old ford and vauxhall man, but known what i end up like, i'll get right in and about the 182 and end up a Clio nut haha :rasp:

to get that power, as I said I'd love 220+ but not looked into it in great detail, and its not a over night plan, but going down the route of cams, fancy manifolds, remap etc, on here to see what everyone else uses and to get a few ideas.. :)

Your better becoming a full member its around £12 and you get into more areas of the forum

The guys on here will give you better advice than most garages on these cars

For that amount of power your talking easily thousands ....a guy called b33 wrl search for him and his build thread

It may be similar to what your after

I probably will sign up, you pay to get in the end. and true with the costs so I might end with a 200bhp car instead.. but always aim high, and settle half way. its not a 6month plan to have complete, you guys know more about them than me at the mo, so more info the better.

will look him up see what he has done.
