  Astra CDTI SRI
What makes are best?

I just do normal road driving, I very rarely thrash the car.

Where's the best place to get them?

Standard Renault are fine for road use...have you ever had any problems with them since new?

The car has done 34000 miles and this is the first time that I have had to change them. No other problems with the brakes.

Will the back ones need replacing as well? Or are they the same as the old drum system, where they wear less than the front brakes?

With 34k on the clock i'd check your disks for wear as well, someone will be able to give you the +/- wear tolerance

Yep your correct about the rear brakes, they don't work as hard as the fronts, again if they are getting down to 4mm of pad left, i'd replace them. Its a lot easier than replacing the rear disks :dapprove:

Just got my Green stuff pads.

The label says Renault megane on them...... Will they fit or are they the wrong ones?

i just buy them from my local motorists discount store, or motor parts drirect if they don't have them in stock, they are as cheap as chips £20

I'm thinking of buying the same but probably do without the braided hoses as I'm short on cash and need to buy new rear discs and pads too.

They are the correct ones, yes. They also perform far better than the OE pads IMO. More progressive, better pedal feel, and better stopping. Quite a good upgrade, they have certainly made my 182 more fun to drive, as I now have a lot more confidence in it's ability to stop. Well.

Oh and the low dust claims appear to be true. My rims are still clean after a couple of hundred hard miles on the Geenstuff, and that includes bedding in. In fact, the rears are dirtier than the fronts.

You may get a bit of brake squeal with the Greenstuff pads though!

Mine were really bad at first but now they have bedded in they only squeal when they are cold

I've got some Mintex Extreme pads to go on in the next couple of weeks though!

The 2.0 Megan last shape and some of the new ones use the same pads so they might be the right ones.
