i've just had new, standard, front brakes fitted (discs and pads).. is it normal for it to feel like i've got bars of soap fitted instead of pads? lol... it does brake but not as good as i thought it would :|
Theres always a coating of something on new pads. W/out teaching you to suck eggs i presume the new discs were wiped round with turps or similar after fitting plus pads kept clean when fitted, bled properly etc.
Dont hammer them for first few miles or you will 'glaze' the surface mate then they will never bed in.
You need to drive the car hard braking from say 50 to 5mph without stopping a few times to get them bedded in. Leave them to cool down and don't stop fully and leave your foot on the pedal.
