New car

  German Barge

Im thinking of a change, but not till the end of the year but need some help deciding on what the best move for me is.

Currently, i am driving my clio 16v, and have many plans for it, with a repsray booked, and a lot of cosmetic/tuning modifications planned for the year.

However, i like the idea of a new car, and if it werent for my age (19 - 20 in october) i would seriously consider snapping up a 172/Cup come my birthday this year.

I know insurance would be around the 1.5k mark (correct me if im wrong) but im more than willing to pay that, IF it is worth the money - if only i was 21 this year.

Should i...

a) keep the valver for another 2 years till i turn 21 and spend the money on it

or

b) save the money, and get a Cup/172 end of the year? If so, would it be better to get a new one, or a second hand one, and what mk/phase?

Thanks in advance for any advice given.

Chris.

keep the valver, spend no money on it and save your money. Ud be surprised how much you will have. Going from a brand new Zetec-S to a Williams has saved me a sh*t load of money, so I can now afford to do ther things and save for my R34 Skyline.

id go second hand if i were you. same car - less money. And you wont be stung as bad by the depreciation

Keep the valver, mod it but dont go mad, and wait til your 21 for a change of car. Youll have a much wider choice then.

yeh think your rite, what is the insurance on a cup/172 when your 20, anyone know? this is based on having licence for 2 years, and 2 years no claims.

Have to agree, as long as your current car isnt causing too many problems.. keep it, dont mod and save your money.. at least then if something goes wrong with you car you can get it fixed without having to worry about finding the money.

Im in your exact position now, but i currently have a 1.4RT. :(. I want a cup but the cheapest insurance quote i got was £1700 and i dont wana pay that much so if you want a cup wait til your 21, or save til your 20 if your prepared to pay that much.

My Williams actually cost £200 less to insure than the 16V

Older cars arent assessed by insurance groups by most companies - theyll have enough experience of them to analyse which are the most likely to be crashed and most expensive to repair.

Clio novice how old are you? If youre younger than 21 id say thats quite good for the car youre getting.
