new clio campus air filter

  RSi 8v
Anyone know how to remove it, and whats a reccomendable upgrade? i know theres not much performance gain, but i want it mainly for the noise  Any help much appreciated. i can take a pic of the engine if its needed.

cheers

Does it have the big air filter box on top of the engine?

If so you will see a few screws holding it on. simply remove the screws and pull and wiggle the box of the rubber mounts.

If you have a pic then i can make sure what im telling you is correct.

done it, cheers haha,

yea the screws were to hold the actual filter in place, turns out i just needed to pull it!! o well, done now :)

found one that k-tec do one thats made especially for this engine too.

tbh dont waste your money on k-tec air filters. Which one you looking at?

You wont notice any extra noise from your engine and your better off getting a panel replacement filter, which wont make any noise but is much better for the engine than induction kits.

newer style 2004> engines sound very nice with an induction kit, older style one sounds ok but not as good.

you wont notice a difference in performance, maby a slight difference to the engine response but likely nothing, the noise will make you think you do tho lol

K-Tec relocated induction kits are a load of shite, the path the air has to take to get to the engine is far to long so it looses the engine torque and although it moves the filter to behind the grill, it also moves it to behind the radiator! so not as good as it sounds.

if you dont care about losing a tiny bit of power then go for a K&N, Pipercross or Powertec (Powertec apparently sound the best) only time you'll really notice the power loss is on a very hot day when you try to pull away from traffic lights or a junction when you've been sitting for a bit, it'll feel a bit slower because its sucking in hot air.

if you dont want to lose power and dont care about blowing a lot of money on an air filter then a Pipercross viper is probably what your looking for,

agreed i have a relcoated k-tec filter and the distance from the filter to the engine is unbelieveable.

My engine bay is just dominated by a huge think silver air filter pipe.

Bear in mind you have to give your car full throttle and wait for about 3k+ revs before you notice any noise. Under normal driving (anything less than absolute full throttle) you wont notice any noise
