New Clio or New Megane!..

05 Plate MG ZR 105 Trophy

I am thinkin about buying a Brand New Clio 1.6 16v Dynamique or Megane 1.6 16v Dynamique VVT. My question is: Which one shall i buy?

At the moment i can buy a Megane 1.6 16v for £10,450 from regvardy a saving of 2 grand..

I would like to know your opinions on the differences between the two cars...

Cheers... :)

Also, if you can afford a 1.6 meg, doesnt that put the 182 into your price range?

But like they said, it depends if you need space or other factors.

Is there much difference in Performance between the two cars?

Clio 1.6 = 110Bhp

Megane 1.6 = 115Bhp

I have a budget of £10,200 to spend on 1 of the cars. As reguards the 182, i am 21 so insurance is to expensive. Which ever car i get i am going to try and get free insurance.

I dont think Reno are doing free insurance at the moment.

Also the free insurance is normally only on "special edition" cars, used to help shift a large number in a small time.

Cars that sell well, dont need the help of free insurance to sell them.

Clio 1.6 is free insurance from regvardy

Megane isnt but i would try and hagel for free insurance

  Meg on pistonheads £6995

space, comfort and re-sale value = Meg

fun & performance & street cred = Clio

why petrol?

have you tried or considered a dCi 80/100 Clio or dCi120 6 speed Meg??

the 6 speed Meg can be chipped to 144BHP and around 240lb/ft of torque (DOUBLE the 1.6 petrol figure)

I think I read that the Megane is the currently the best selling car in Europe, it is very well built, very refined and good value, much better car than the 1.6 clio which is about to be replaced.

If it was a fast car you wanted then no boubt the renaultsport but for a 1.6 my money would go on a megane or even a DCi megane as they are cracking.

My wife has a new 1.6 Megane and it really is a nice family car. It is however dog slow, its getting better with miles but it is not even what I would call nippy.

The ride is also very family orientated. It feels quite remote to drive and you get little feel through the electrically assisted steering. It is a very nice car, but not what I would have wanted at 21.

I would have loved something like a 182 at 21 tho, but would probably have crashed it in weeks.

So to cut a long story short, go for the Clio.

how about a yr or two old 172 and spend the extra on insurance.

Otherwise Id recomend a dci instead excellent economy.
