New clutch supplied and fitted

  S4 Avant
A clutch kit will cost anywhere between £80 - £150 depending on what you go for, and how generous the person selling it is.

Labour will be the big killer, its a gearbox off job. I'd be looking closer to 5-6 hours labour.

Just got mine back from Mr Clutch Chelmsford with 2year/20,000 mile guarantee. I paid £290. + £60 for cone and fork.
Customer service was sh*te and it took 3 days, but I did have to have a new fork selector and gearbox cone which they had to wait for Renault to deliver. I was originally told it'd take a day-day and a half. I'm guessing with it being a chain the prices are the same everywhere??

Oh, and I think the Clutch was an LUK one. I saw the box under my car.

  Renault clio 2005
Should Cost No more than £400 fitted. Renault may charge slightly more maybe £450 But It should not cost any more than that. Another option would be try and get a good deal on ebay then. shop around Independant garages for quotes. You may get it down to £220 all in. It`s Not a hard job for a mechanic that has any idea of how To do things. I have heard they can be fitted in under 2 hours with No problem.

so so many things wrong it's hard to know where to start. I've heard of Renault quoting over £1000. Parts are getting on for £165-170 including oil so you're not getting 7-8 hours of work for £50 labour are you? (working on your £220 estimate)

Any statement using "I've heard"......well just forget it.

£450 is a fair price.

Be prepaired for a few return journeys to Mr Clutch.

A 306 GTI-6 I had a couple of years ago had a clutch change by them (before I bought it I might add!) I took it back to them as it was juddering, they replaced it FOC under warranty. 3 weeks later it was juddering again. I replaced it with a Valeo unit and it was perfect after that.

I suspect they use either cheap parts or don't know what they are doing (or a combination of both)

Its a combination of both... they use cheap white box units which they buy for like £23. You pays your money and take your chance.
