New Discs & Pads Needed...Any Suggestions??

  C3 Picasso Beast
Basically I had my 48k service done today @ Renault Holden, Norwich on my 03' 172 and I've been told that I need new discs and pads for front and rear. For front discs and pads I've been quoted 280.95 with fitting and £280.88 for the rear. Both of these quotes seem very expensive to me and basically I'm wondering if anyone could give me any advice/suggestions on possible other performance pads/discs that are probably better and cheaper?? I don't want to buy cheap s**t and want the discs/pads to be equal or better to the standard ones so please bear this in mind when giving me your help ;)

I'm s**t when it comes to doing work on my car so I wouldn't be able to fit them myself so asked Renault how much to just fit my own sourced pads n' discs and they quoted me still £202.16...great!!

Thanks in advance!!

take the car to an independent garage for the fitting and buy the parts on-line or from a factors - much cheaper for the same parts (same for servicing) and the labour will be much less. i would also question why the rear brakes need touching at all - even the front discs as 48,000 miles is nothing usually to rear brakes as they don't do much work

have a look a couple threads down mate, i posted same question earlier on, click on the link on my thread and theres a kit on ther for £146 for front and rear disks and pads, i think im going to order them
im sure a garage wouldnt charge more than £60 for labour

mintex 1144 pads they are and group n disks, it works out £102 for just the front so i think im guna get all as its only another £45 for the rear aswell

most decent independent garages charge £40 - £50 per hour for labour (much less than rip off dealers, some of which are into three figures)

How long would it take to fit both the rear and front pads/discs on do you know??

Well the service sheet I got says that the front pads have 12mm (min is 18mm) and fronts discs have 21.6mm (min is 24), and rear pads have 7mm (min is 11) and rear discs have 6.7mm (min is 8)....do these sound right at all then??

shame you dont live near Northwich mate, £300 would see you with front and rear genuine discs and pads fitted @ NW Performance
