New Gearbox Oil now crunching in 3rd

As title really changed my gearbox oil now when downshifting at high speeds into 3rd I get a crunch its fine at low speeds and when changing up but its still annoying. Never did it with the old oil.

Could this be a mount or linkage or is it the syncro going? Just seems wierd that it only started happening when the oil was changed.

the renault stuff is fine for day to day!,

i use royal purple! but it isnt cheap, think its about £70 to fill the box with it,

Where'd you get your royal purple from ben? Could never find a place that seemed to sell it in the right viscosity.

Up to the bottom of the fill port and 75w-90 Royal Purple.

i just used 75 w 90

but mine is pumped and cooled through the box using a Mocal setup

no never crunched before thats what i find odd and it only does it changing down which is weird also

Yeah i thought they did also. I'm going to be annoyed if thats the case as it cost 60 quid!!!

Is there supposed to be pressure in the box ? maybe not enough oil ; not enough pressure ?

sounds like syncro mate, always worse on the downshift than when goin up.

3rd gear syncrho always goes wrong, doubt its related to the oil

This is really strange..

As i changed the gear box oil a few weeks ago and now i get a crunch going into 3rd gear for the for 20 -30mins of driving???

But as Fred just said its prob isnt realted to the oil, or is it hmmm :S

Who knows mine wasnt as bad on the way home tonight will just have to keep an eye on it and try to match revs better on downshift. I have an RAC warrenty till Jan 09 do you think it would be covered under that?

Possibly. I maybe on the wrong lines but would the old oil hide it perhaps cos its a little thicker? and now that is thinner you get the crunch?

sounds expensive. Mine has acutually stopped doing it or at least the new oil is buffering it enough for me not to notice... odd
