New headunit - Need advice.

Right, i want to get a new headunit, but im stuck on what one to get. Basically i've only ever had pioneers and i have to say i am very happy with them... so i am tempted to stay with what i know.

However, people seem to rave on about the alpine headunits... so guys and gals i need your help...

Im basically after a headunit that offers good quality, will play MP3's and all the usual stuff, if anyone has any pictures feel free to put them up, would be much obliged.

Just got myself a 9855R and its an awesome headunit.

Really is a great unit really easy to navigate through songs with the glidetouch little odd at first then its just second nature and its so easy to go through settings etc very quickly.

Its pretty much alpines flagship headunit and can be bought for less than £260 now.

Citroen C4, got rid of my clio few weeks ago. Missing it loads now wish i hadnt got rid of it.

But think im gonna wait a year or 2 then look at getting a MK3 RS.

The stalk looked Renault"ish" but the console/dash was obviously not so I was somewhat confused. Looks nice.

Headunit is brilliant mate cant fault it. Went in and asked 2 audio shops what the recommended for sound quality both of them said that unit so does nearly everyone on here.

Plus i always just liked the general look and feel of alpine units why i got this one.

But the audio options theres just loads you can sit goign through the easy menu and theres loads of options then once you go into the advanced menu you can control everything with the crossovers levles different EQ's etc.

Does honestly sound a hundred times better than the stock system sounded. And thats still using my standard speakers.

It is motorized yeah mine is actually tilted slightly in that pic could go more but thats the perfect angle for it. in my car.

few quid cheaper than if you went and got it out of a shop but not much.

But if you go into a shop they usually give you discount i went in said i could get it cheaper and they matched the price.

Im a bit like yourself only ever had Pioneer and been faultless I have this one

Love it for the simple fact it looks classy now and will still look classy in 5 years time plus the sound is good AJR has just got one too

Ive just got a 9855r aswell and i have to say the sound quility over the standard is unreal i really never thought it would sound so much better. The bass it gives out is awsome i just need different speakers now.

Im not to sure on when you have the ipod hucked up you have to search the songs through the headunit as it takes a while with the glide touch, so now i just unhuck the ipod and search through that then reattatch and it plays what you selected on the ipod.

I can get pics of it in mine if youd like but i have the phase 2.

Is a 2005 model. The pioneers you were looking at are a fair bit older.

But go into an audio store and ask them how much they are willing to give you it for the unit can be had for £260 off the net and another £50 for the ipod adaptor see if they will give you them both for £315ish you have to try at least usually there quite good in shops if you wanna buy a few things from them.

You can usually haggle some money off them.

Theres a couple places in bolton, And a few in manchester centre. If your gonna spend over £300 though id be going somewhere to have a play with the units before buying them myself though.

^^ True, but everyone i have seen comment on it has had nothing but good things to say so im trusting peoples opinion, if not im sure i could line up a buyer afterwards.

I went off peoples opinion aswell i walked into the place and didnt even look for it just went to the counter and said gimme gimme gimme. i picked mine up from cel direct in leicester for 330 with ipod adaptor, i know its a little more than other places but i wanted it that day.

Also i forgot to give my opinion on my head unit..

its the best ive ever used! ive used some of the earlyer Pioneer ones and that more simple looking one that The Big Yin posted a pic of (which is amazing if you dont care about fancy colours etc ) mine just has so many different settings and features and the sound quality is amazing and this is just on standard speakers (for now!), i can make a video of me going through all the menus etc if you like?

I had the 77mp in my 19 and it was great, pity th escrapyard monkies stole it when it was written off

Still, am going to buy another this month (after a year of not having one ).
