hi all
i own a 93 clio williams, which misteriously has no numbered dash plaque (does anybody has any info about this), and just bought a 94 willy for GF.
now, in the process of buying these 2 willy, i have noticed that almost all the cars i have tried, which had mileages around 100k km, and even some 16v 1800cc, had a lot of slop in the steering
my car had the steering rack just changed so no slop, but the steering has 1/4 turn more on the left, and 1/4 less on the right.,. quite annoying parking.
seems that the rack that was fitted by the old owner was some other sort than the original one. the threaded rod end in my clio have more thread visible than the ones in my GF clio, and i doubt there is enough tread to balance things. the car tracks straigh and shows no unever tire wear so id rule out a bent car.
my GF clio, with 80k km, has a tiny amount of slop in the steering
does anybody know if this is a known problem in clio 16v/williams and if the steering rack is the same as the 16v or the R19 16v?
last sunday, coming back from italy, around firenze the exhaust manifold just after the big joint broke up completely. NOISY...
ciao
