new laptop crashing

just bought a new laptop tonight and everytime i try to copy a dvd with the installed software it crashes. i know the pre installed stuff aint great but it still shouldnt do it should it???

should i take it back or just download some better software??

need some advice as im bit pissed off after spending 500 quid...
 
hmm... take it back show them the prob, if it's similar get refund. order dell inspiron. job done
 
what are dell laptops like then any good???

i know the supplied software will be crap with what i got but i would at least expect it to work.shall i use this p**n dvd im trying to copy as my demonstation in currys? :)
 
yea inspirons have always been fine for me, had 2 in the past. sold them on last year tho as wanted to get a desktop.

yeah take the p**n dvd, if they enjoy it you might get a gift voucher lol
 
what you reckon of advent then???i didnt really want to get it but it was ok spec.80gb hd, 1gb ram, widescreen, 1.5ghz processor i think....windows media center and free vista upgrade if i want it
 
bearing in mind i dont use it for games just internet/email my business accounts and bit of cd dvd copying , just basic stuff

do the vista upgrade, but don't keep it unless the problem is sorted. spec is ok, not brill but not crap.
 
Advent is not a very good make, they tend to use cheap components. I would try different software first TBH incase it isnt a hardware problem.
