Evening all.

Got home a few hours ago and my latest ebay random purchase had arrived.

It's a Tokina 24mm 2.8, fresh out of the 80's. Manual focus, manual aperture - awesome. Picked up for the measly sum of £60ish pounds

I'm not exactly sober, but it does seem pretty sharp from a first look:

Both taken in poor light at F2.8.

Winner winner, chicken dinner. I think. More shots/video to follow.

Very nice, usable focal length! What bodies it sitting on?

Always wanted a Rokkor 58mm f/1.2 for my 40D but its price sky rocketed in the last few years :(

Cheers guys.

Pete - It's on a Nikon D5100 :) Had another quick play with it this morning - it's stupidly sharp; much more so than my 50mm f/1.8.

Just had a quick look on the 'Bay for the rokkor 58mm - yep, it's not cheap! Gives AMAZING quality image's though :)

I'm not sure what will be next for me, I quite fancy trying the Samyang 85mm f/1.4. It's got some good reviews and can be had new for under £200, lol!

Very nice I suspect it will pwn all your lenses for sharpness unless you have any very expensive ones!

Looks like a good buy you got there :)
I was looking at that Samyang 85mm 1.4 when i was hunting down my 24-70mm - looks good. If it's a "cheap" lens and does a cracking job HAPPY DAYS!

Well after using it twice, it's broken. Not been recognised at all as a lens by either of my cameras.

Grrrr.

Not at all mate. You can see directly through the viewfinder as if the lens is there (which it is, obviously) but the shutter won't close. Will attempt to fix it when I'm less tired but it's having none of it atm. f***s sake.

Slight bump on this...

I've 'fixed' it! By fixed, it turns out it was never broken in the first place - it turns out it just needs a little effort to click it into place.

It's been sat 'broken' gathering dust for the past 7 months, lol! What a f**king spastic I can be sometimes. Had a little play with it last night and it's a great little lens, hopefully use it more next week.

But yeah...thought you'd all like to know
