Hey everybody would just like to say hello :)

im Dan im 22 and from a lovely area called bedfordshire i work as a mobile engineer/mechanic on crane and earthmoving machines

im no newbie when it comes to french cars ive had a fair few in my 5 years behind the wheel, but ive always wanted a clio sport since i got into trackdays, i picked mine up last month and have been enjoying driving about in it very very much, i have only purchased it for abit of fun during the week days when i have time and to take out on track, i have been taking my main everyday car around the track but its always playing in the back of my head if a bin it ive lost a hell of alot of money and have no way to get to work the next day, i may well be what is known as a mad car enthusiast, every car ive owned has been my pride and joy and looked after to an exceptionally good standard which if anyone who will know me from here will know!

ill go through my current and previous car history for you guys now, so you can get a taste of how crazy i am :p

I started my driving life in this at 17, a 1.4 206 LX, was a very good car to learn in and start off in

IMG_0023.gif

Then after 5 months i moved up a bit well could be classed as a step down in some peoples minds haha into this

A 1.6 Sport Ka, done a few light mods to that, colour coded the door handles, lowered it slightly

Ka.gif

After owning that for again for about 5 months now aged 18 insurance had gone down so felt i could moved onto bigger and better things

206 Gti that i brought standard and after 8 months of owning i changed from this

Before_zps4a82ecbb.gif

To this, i lowered it 40mm, sprayed the wheel arches, fitted a set of Vortex alloy wheels and fitted a powerflow exhaust system

IMG_0379.gif

Unfortunately it came to a sorry end after 9 months in november 2010 i was hit by an uninsured foreign lorry driver :'( totalled the poor car, i was devastated

IMG_0396.gif

after that happened i went a few weeks with no car then i found myself a 2004 vectra 1.9 SRI 150 going cheap so i picked that to run myself to work and back held onto that till end of december, sold the vetcra to my brother as he needed a car so i picked myself up a 2002 focus 1.6 ran that for 2 weeks did not like the driving position or anything about it, luckily i got my payout from my insurance start of January so i got straight on the net to find my next car, i had always wanted a 206 Gti 180 since passing my test so i hunted for 1 of them, found an absolute minter for sale just down the road so had to have it!

This is how it started out when i brought it, completely standard that did not last long

IMG_0428.gif

After 2 weeks of ownership it didn't take me long before i was modifying it started by lowering it by 20mm

DSC_03072.gif

in the 2 years i owned it transformed the car to what ive been told to be 1 of the nicest examples of a Gti 180 around, i had changed the headlights to genuine valeos masked, the wheels refurbished in anthracite wrapped in Parada Spec 2 tyres, about 2 months before i sold her i fitted her with Avo 30 way adjustable coilovers for a few trackdays i did, polybushed all the parts that were available to change, uprated the brakes i had a set of 406 brembos to fit but never got round to it before she left, 24mm rear antiroll bar, janspeed exhaust system and quite a few other things

Painted the engine cover blue and gloss black, polished up the inlet manifold, that took hours of hard work

This a picture of it on track at French Car show 2012 if anyone was there you might have seen it

IMG_1607-1_zps98ad1cca.gif

In july 2012 on my 21 st birthday i through it was time i treated myself again i had worked damn hard over the 2 years while owning the 180 to save as much as i could for my next motor, it could only be 1 car for me, my childhood dream car, while im at the only point in life where im going to be able to afford to run and keep myself a float i had to have 1

totally original low millage 2005 Impreza Sti PPP with 301bhp ive since had the power increased so its now running a measly 375Bhp

The day i picked her up :D

And how she sits now after just over 1 year, i have not done to much to this as i dont want to go ott! all i have done is fit the mandatory pink subaru badge, Blitz Nur Spec R exhaust system, Brought a set off Speedline Prodrive alloys, lowered it abit, upgraded all the suspension parts so it handles perfectly on track

While owning the subaru ive tried running another car at the same time to keep the millage down and the resale price up on it but the car i got just did nothing for me as an everyday car, didnt like the ride, nor the looks you get from people

the 2.0l engine is not 1 to be messed with unless you have all the tools, I'm a very competent mechanic and i was to scared to tackle this engine on my drive, as far as I'm aware they don't have any timing mark or keyways in the pulleys not very helpful sorry

  Renault Clio182 bean
hi can any1 help me with timing marks on my 172??

There are no 'Marks'. There are only special timing alignment tools, a 'horseshoe' camshaft aligning bar and a TDC locking pin that slots into the block and into a groove in the crankshaft web. If with the TDC pin locked in the crank (not in the balance hole which is a common mistake as its so close to the actual hole for timing) the camshaft tool should slot straight in, if it doesn't then the timing is out, and this engine does not have any keyways (locating pegs) on the camshaft pulleys or crankshaft pulley so if correct procedure and tools are not used the timing can be such a small amount out and give you running problems and lose power.
