New member. Just bought a FF 182 that needs a little TLC.

Hey everyone. Just bought a full fat clio 182 and am really loving it. It needs some tlc but is a relatively solid little car. I've replaced an injector, the spark plugs, air filter, cold air pipe and done an oil change so far and its now running sweet. I have a feeling the belts will need done soon as they look a little old so I'm looking for a guide as to how to do them. They look pretty hard to access.

Welcome!

From your post, you sound handy with a toolkit and spanners - but the timing on 1*2s is an art form. You definitely need the required locking tools to begin and even then, the engine can run very poorly if just slightly out.

Personally, unless you're very confident in tackling it, I'd leave the belts to one of the many specialists on here.

Whereabouts are you based?

Welcome. Belts are a bit of a pig of a job and you ideally need to understand floating pullies and how tension affects timing on a none symmetrical belt

I'm planning to take the car down to my mates workshop for a weekend at some point and do all the major stuff. We are pretty confident mechanically so I'm happy just doing it myself. I also have a sneaking suspicion the clutch is starting to show signs of being on the way out so I'll probably do that as well while I'm at it.

I'm based in Perth.
