New member, long time renault owner.

Hi Guys,

Have owned most things renaut in the years i have been driving (5's 19's clio's megane's). Always however prefered and loved the clio mk1 16vs and williams. After going out in a friends 182 yesterday at a cliosport meet. I couldnt believe just how well they eat up b roads. To the point where i had already told him i wouldn't be buying another clio ever and that come november im going TVR (chimiera). By the end of the night i was determined to buy something french haha. Now wether its going to be a 172/182 or its going to be a williams/valver i can't say yet. But im on the look out for something special and ill be looking for some advice.

I suppose the thing i really wanted to know was can a mk1 clio eat up b roads as well as the newer 172/182's. Can i expect a 15 year old williams to do what a modern 182 is doing?

Newer is not always better, but you do expect considerable refinement on cars when the model is revamped. I haven't been in a 182 nor Williams. What you should do is take one for a test drive and see what you feel.

I passed my licence on a renault 19. Was a good servant that car!

Loved my ph1 19 16v, Was absoloutly epic, unfortuantly it died a death but after much punishment!

That's when you could pick up good ones for under £500 The good ole days of second hand motoring!

Mk1's are just as good if not better on the b-roads than 1*2's they are just alot more fun where as the rs's are a bit more refined still fun though.

Thanks for the advice Stevo. I understand the 182 i was out in last night has been fettled with and is as ridgid as ron jeremy with a few viagras in him. I'm gonna go mk1 hyrbid/williams then Is there much following of the MK1's here? havent seen hardly anything yet :-(

Due to their age they are rare but there are a few on here. There is a dedicated site for williams though.

Do a little search here and on google see what comes up.

Mk1s are alot more fun to thrash about in mate. As much as I like my 172, I'm always looking out for another mk1
