Hi im a new member to this forum, ive only owned my clio for 5 weeks but already I think its an excellent car, apart from a few minor problems. Im a member of the renault sports club forum and I put a post on there as I have a problem with my car, its a brand new Clio billabong 1.2 16v and it keeps cutting out when idling (when warm) and when started from cold the revs are really up and down for the first 30 secs, between 700 and 1200 RPM or so then it goes all right.

Does anyone know the cause of this?

get it back to the dealer to have the ECU upgarded!!

I had the same problem and took it back and they sorted it out for me happened since!

im sure someone has mentioned this before, something to do with the ecu. apparently renault are looking into this and trying to update the software, best to ask the dealer you bought it from. Hope you enjoy using the forum , where abouts you from etc ?

Cheers some one else said about the ECU, I will ask them, they did a diagnostic on it and said there was nothing wrong!!! Then they turned around and said it may be the air idle valve but they would need to have it in for a few days to see when it does it! But this ECU thing seems another possibility

Anyway im from Bristol, 20 and male I have an 03 Clio Billabong which I really like apart from the idle thing!!!

he is resident know it all, bobrte is very clued up too so they are your men for really techy quetions but im pretty sure its down to the ecu

Im at the University of the West of England which is nearish Bristol Uni and I know a few people who go there, whats he studying and what car does he drive?

it will almost certainly be a electrical problem, of which the dealer should sort, if you give them greif and say its brand spanking new.

Im up at UWE too, or meant to be, not up there much, Business. St.....

Which ones your Clio? Im doing Quantity Surveying so I usually park in one the car parks near Qblock, not that im there that often either!!! Its booked in for next Monday to get the sunroof sorted as its a typical Renault one so they can look at the stalling and stuff then!!!

i was there today, i tried to park in the small carpark near the Q Block but a girl nipped in before me......so i park in the gravel one jsut below the grass area your talking of.

My clio is a blue 16V, looks like a willy and is quite loud.

I had my clio in for a leaky sunroof at the dealers near.....um.....the audi/toyota area etc....forgot teh name.

They didnt fix it so i had to later on.....whilst charging me for nothing and keeping thr car 3 days longer than they should of.....even though they said they would be on it the morning i brought it in....haha! rant over.

Cool I think ive seen your car around, looks a quality motor, I know the dealership youre on about, I got my car from SJ Cooks which is in staple hill so it goes back there, does much happen round here with meets and cruises and stuff??

not really.......not may people about, and the people who are about prefer driving and talking cars than cruises and stuff.

maybe pub meets would be a good idea, like once a month or something.

Yep definately seen it, I thought it was a willys! Very nice motor!!! Pub meets or something sounds good, u actually from Bristol or r u just down here while at uni?

I know some people meet down at Canons Marsh, behind @ Bristol but I have only seen Nova boys down there so didnt fancy it!!!
