You're complaining because a yearly test which tests that your car is in the correct road worthy condition it should be, now covers more things to ensure the car is functioning correctly and is road worthy ?

What a bunch of b*stards. How dare they..

these arnt new rules. They are just changing from advisory > fail status. Chances are if you got no advisories last time on these point, you probably wont fail next time provided its in the same condition.

They are gentley altering the rules bit by bit each year, its not the massive draconian changes the gutter press are making out, but they live to sensationalise so its hardly a surprise.

Just spotted a clarification on this in the latest MSA news letter.

http://www.dft.gov.uk/vosa/repository/SN 01 2013 V1.0.pdf

It states:

Where a vehicle has been extensively modified or converted, certain Reasons
for Rejection, such as for components ‘missing where fitted as standard’ should
not be applied, for example:
 a car converted for rally use (i.e. rear seats removed and fitted with a roll
cage and full harness seat belts etc.) may have been converted so as
not to require a brake servo, power steering or airbags
 a car converted to a stretch limousine may no longer be fitted with
curtain airbags or functional Electronic Stability Control
