New Rs 200 owner - South Wales

Purchased this stunning 200 last week.

Bought as a bit of a project as there where some issues that needed/need addressing.

Stuck in 5th gear

Blowing flexis

Smashed windscreen

Front window not working

I can see it’s been someone’s pride and joy and would be awesome if the old owner was on here and had some old photos or a bit of a progress thread.

I’ve owned over 30 1*2s when I was younger but this is my first 200. Looking forward to some track days this year for sure!

I think they look really good in black. Hopefully it won't turn out to be a money pit.

I’d check the engine and gearbox mounts - as these may give rise to the flexi and gearbox issues. Excess flexing.

You can either fit a new manifold - mixed bag of opinions on Toyo/Gravity. Some say steel is poor and crack and you’re better off welding in/fixing the old unit. I understand it’s a bit of a PITA to swap manifold, as you’ll have to remove the subframe. I think you’d also need to remove the cross member support.

Not sure why it would be stuck in 5, possibly clutch or gear linkage issues? Something fouling the selector. I’d work back from the cheap stuff.
