New power steering pump ? plus extra advice, please

Fiesta RS Turbo & Pug 206
i think ( well i know ) that my P.S pump is on its way out :dapprove:

when i start the car up in the morings it grinds when i turn the wheel and squeels :S

but is it a hard job to do ? and will the front bumper need to come off ?

im gessing it will have to come off as there is no space in there to move .

also what the f**k is this from ?

i found it under the bonnet laying on the s**t gaurds under the engine . dont knwo how long its been laying there not long i guess.

but last nite i went through a massive puddle then turned into a juntion and the power steering died and the stop light come on with the battery light ??? what the hell is going on.

the list of things is atarting to get bigger by the day ??

check out my other probelm , please:eek:

do NOT drive the car or even start the engine! that sounds like you have damage to the aux belt area, and that bolt looks like its off the alternator

what do u recon the chances are of the belt just slipping causing the alternator not to charge the battery and the power steering to go hard ?

doesn't happen unless the tensioner is fucked or you've lost tension on the belt (ie from that bolt coming out of the alternator or similar)

seriously DON'T run the engine, if the aux belt comes off its a 95% likleyhood it'll take the cambelt out and f**k the engine!

i do reakon that is the alternator bolt! pas pump is easy but very time consuming! if you have a good knowlege on what your doing it will be ok. As per fred says i wouldn't bother trying to run it as yeah you might kill it!

WHAT DO YA RECON ON THIS THEN :quiet:

LETS TAKE A CLOSER LOOK

So yes that was an altinator bolt !!!

now need a new alternator

that bolt it lived round the back, so without it the front mount has taken all the strain of the belt and pull

glad a stopped when i did , that could of fooked things right up.

how easy is it to change alternator and what car can i get one from apart from a 1*2 ??

Ben :S

that longer bolt is the main mountng/pivot bolt not that little one on top. Why that has snapped is strange although the alternator does look new! if its been changed or you've had the 36k done recently get back to them and shout...

i might have a spare alternator, can you grab the part number off it?

thats a 3-4hour job in my eyes

Really?, i'd have thought you could manuever it out of the left hand hole when you remove the upper grille? Did that with my old 1.6 when I needed to get the alt out.

Might be totally wrong, can't remember what space is like.

fucker of a job

ben its none of those numbers, it'll start with a 6,7 or 8 (should be a 9 digit number IIRC)

i have the invoice for a new alternator only in 2006 !!! so i can get the part number off that , they changed it coz some wireing harness burnt out ( but it happened with the prevous owner), do u recon its worth ringing them up and having a go it must be under a warrenty , coz noone has touched the thing since ???
