Anyone know what price they will trade an 80gb ps3 for? I must have been living in a cave as I didn't know the slim jim was due, I have a brand new, still unopened in box ff version that I got for the kids xmas!

Went down today for a butchers at trade-in deals and both game and Gamestation have pretty much nothing.

Basically, trade a PS3 in and get a slimline one for £130 which is a rip off IMO, seeing as mine is unopened in box i'll stick it on the bay for £200 or something.

It wasn't so long ago I got my 80Gb PS3.. I've just put a 300Gb HD in it too, doubt I'll be parting with mine just yet..

Although I do have one question, if it's smaller, lighter and more compact, I'd like to know how they've got round the overheating issue.. If at all? :S

Some encouraging comments relating to noise:

"This was the one thing that Nick and I were most impressed with. This thing is quiet. Scary quiet. "WTF, is it even on?" quiet. Nick thinks the optical drive makes just a bit more noise than the original when inserting or ejecting a disc, but it didn't seem any louder to me. Either way, once your game or movie is in there, the thing is virtually silent.

Keep in mind we were pretty busy with this today and didn't exactly get to jump into any eight-hour gaming sessions, but we certainly played it. You'll probably be as impressed with its inaudibility as we were. I'd venture to say it's even quieter than the Wii. "

And for £30 ('upgrade' price) I get a new 12month warrenty (18 months sony warrenty) and a new dualshock controller so its not bad tbh!

The PSU remains inside of the case according to the reviews I've read so far.

I was happy to trade my 60gb for £200, I'd rather a new PS3 with warranty.

PlayTV is launched in Australia later this year after the PS3 Slim is launched there so you'd have to think that it works with the new model.

I can't really see any point in "upgrading" to it. You save what an inch in height and an inch in width?... wow. its hardly a massive achievement. Surely if you already have an original ps3 then you already have the room for it. Pointless.

And the plastic looks naff, the piano black looks far better!

The current "fat" PS3 only has 2 USB ports and runs PlayTV, the PS3 slim is just a down sized case as the internals have been reduced due to improved production

techniques.

IMO the the original looks better but I can see this getting lots more people interested in the PS3.

its alot small really but still not smaller than teh 360 and thats a chunky beast as it is

The PS3 Slim dimensions are approximately 290 X 65 X 290 mm (Width X Height X Length) and weighs in at 3.2 kg

The Xbоx 360 dimensions are approximately 309 X 83mm X 258 mm (Width X Height X Length) and weighs in at 3.5 kg

In everything but length it is smaller than the 360 although they look fairly similar in reality.
