New to Renaults!

Hi CS members

I'm Jay, 23 from Northamptonshire. I've always been a fan of Renaults due to my sister owning a string of R5GTT's (which all blew up in spectacular style) but never owned one myself. Now the time has come to buy a 172. It makes sense with my price range - it's probably the most fun/quick car I can realistically afford to buy, insure and maintain.

I'm trying to sell my Honda Civic which I bought as a runaround 3 years ago then opefully I should have £3k to spend on a Clio in the next few weeks. I'll be doing a lot of research first to make sure I end up with a good one and will most likely do some track days later in the year.

:approve:

Welcome, are you looking for a ph1 or a ph2?

If you become a full member you'll have access to buying guides and the different types of Renaultsport Clio's available. :)

Not too sure at this stage. I prefer the look of the ph2 but understand the ph1 may be better to drive!

I will become a member at some point however I need to test drive a couple of Clios first - purely because I've heard a lot said about the driving position being awkward. I need to make sure it's something I can put up with day to day before committing to anything.

Seen a few cars with aftermarket seats - does it solve whatever issues people have with the driving position? It looks like you sit quite high up.

There are a couple of things to help the driving position, you can take the rubber spacer type things out of the standard seat subframes, lowering the seating position, or a set of Recaro's/any other nice buckets will see you happy.

I only say Recaro's as they come standard in the Trophy.

Where abouts are you from? Pop along to a meet and I'm sure people will let you have a seat in a few different models.

Cool well if it can be changed then it shouldn't be a problem for me.

I'm in Northampton, any meets in the area? I can turn up in my Civic and get laughed at :)
