New TV time

Been considering a new TV, currently got a 32 LG LCD Tv, which to be fair has and is serving me well.

Got between 400 450 quid to spend, max size is really 42 inch. So I've got a bugdet but not sure if I should be going for LCD, LED or Plasma??

Also just signed up for the Tivo box so would my new TV benifit from being 1080p?? or 1080i or isn't there a differance???

Yeah, according to AVforums 3m back is the perfect distance for a 46"

by that them 266.7cm away is the correct distance for a 42 inch telly, so about prefect size for my living room, taken into account my tv won't be mounted on the wall and neither will my sofa.
