Hi All,
Thought I'd sign up here and say hello, I've recently brought my second Renault (I had a 5GTT many years ago) after years of owning VAG stuff (and a Punto Sporting whilst at Uni) and me and the wife decided after much test driving etc that a 197 fitted the bill for what we wanted in a daily car, others in the running had been a Corsa VXR (too "chavvy") a Mk5 Golf GTI (too high mileage and too old for the money) a Mk4 R32 (as previous but more so) a 330ci (too BMW for the wife) and an S3 (there seemed to be a huge gap in vehicles from £6k - £10k).
Our local RS dealer had a couple of 197's in, so we took one out and fell in love, at the time I didn't really know what was special with the R27, but the seats/chassis were the deal clincher, and before we picked it up I did my research and found out what exactly it was.
So here's some pics of the 197 before we picked it up:
I used to work for one of the UK's leading early VW specialists, so I'm obviously into my VAG stuff too, so here's the two current projects:
Firstly, my wifes 2.0 Mk2 GTI, Porsche D90 wheels, Electric Recaro interior, plenty of bodywork tweaks, and weitec suspension, full powerflex kit amongst other things:
Then my project, a Mk1 Cabrio, with a 2.0 16v 9a motor, running ITBs, KMS ECU, 8x15" ET12 fully polished BBS RS's, fully polybushed and braced, Audi TT interior, 280mm G60 brakes and lots of other bits and bobs.
So that's me and the cars, I have a couple of GSXR's too, which I can post pics up, if anyones interested!
My boss is also on here, he's got a Ph2. 172 which is set to become a track toy, so between that, and the 197 I'm sure we'll see some of you about from time to time.
I'm not sure how well Mk3's are recieved on here, but hopefully the other motors will show I'm not just about shiny new things!
Cheers,
James
