newbie and 1.2 clio serv light

Hi everybody,
First I wish to say hello!!!

I have just bought a june 2004 clio 1.2 I had searched on here regarding the Serv light noted this meant a problem (MIL) went and bought the car as althought the car had the Serv light on it drove fine - idle a bit high 1100rpm. But there was no other lights on other than the sevice light. The engine light was not on. My OBd reader could not connect (Bluetooth) at the time. The car has 1 years MOT on it.

So any thoughts on why SERV light only is on other than it might need serviced

thanks
in advance

I believe the SERV light is down to the airbag wires under the front seats, they need a wiggle and the light should go out. Commonly happens with people adjusting the seats.
Have a search on the forum and i'm sure you'll find more.

The serv light comes on for a number of reasons. Not just the airbag (although the above is usually the case). Usually it comes on with another light, which identifies which system has a problem. It does not mean the car needs servicing, it means a fault has been detected, but it is not essential that you stop the car straight away.

Idling at about 1krpm isn't too unusual when cold.

Interesting to see this, not many people have this fault, i have the same fault but my cheapy code reader cant pick anything up,

im going to get a garage to plug it in with more specialist diagnostics to find the problem
