Newbie straight out of Surreh!

  Full Fat 182
Hello all,

I'm new to the site, new to Clio's and new to Renault in general! I decided at the last minute to choose a 2005 Clio 182 over a Peugeot GTI180 on Monday :) My names Pete as the username would suggest, I'm 25 (26 on Sunday!) and I'm from near Guildford.

I've been a pug owner since 2006, owning a 106 then a 206 since August 2008. My plan was basically to upgrade and finally get my GTI180, but after test driving the Clio182 I now own, there was no choice in it... I had to have the Clio. I'll be completely honest, before driving one I didn't think much of them. But from that first drive I've quickly become hooked and realised just how awesome a little beast they are

  V6 255, 172's, JCW,
Welcome to Cliosport Pete. A fine choice of car over the GTi180. Unfortunately the 206 just didn't cut the mustard compared to its predecessor 205. Funny enough, I was looking at a 206 Grande Tourism last night that a friend has just bought.. not seen one in years!
Any plans for your new purchase?

I think GTI 180's are compared a little too much. Yes, in comparison with other cars 206 didn't match up. But taken as a car in it's own right, IMO it's more stylish then any of it's competition.. The GT particularly is a great looking car. It is a shame Peugeot didn't put in the effort to focus more attention under the bonnet, but they're still thoroughly entertaining cars :D

No plans for the Clio as yet as far as mechanics go.. My Pug went through many various mods, but I'm happy keeping this car standard and just focusing on keeping it as a really tidy example. I'm going to get the alloys refurbed and neaten up the few bits of the body that need it. Ideally, I'm wanting to keep the car a couple of years, then buy another road car once my salary goes up and use this one for track.. Can't think of much better to have as a little track runner
