Newbie to Clio - bit of help please!

Hi guys,

my first post on here so a big hellloooo! I currently own a fiesta zetec s and am a staff member on the ZSOC, however with financial expenses getting the better of me i need something cheap as a run around till i finish university!

Iv managed to find a clio from my uncle who has had it from new, its an X reg and he wants £2700 for it. First of all is this a good price?

Second of all, ive noticed with the mk2 phase 1 (i think its called?) some of the headlights are sort of frosted, and some of them have three clear lenses within them. I don't mean the mk2 phase 2 shape, i'm still talking about the phase 1.

Is this some sort of extra you could of had? Is there any benefits to it apart from styling purposes? I cant remember which type his clio has so i just wanted to know what the difference was please?

Hello and welcome aboard!

You'll have to find out what model it is with regards to the price being good or bad, then we can work out if you'll get a good deal, but the headlights thing is quite easy. The '3' lights are an upgrade from the '1' lights if that makes sense, but I'm not sure exactly how much better they are. I'm sure someone on here will be able to tell you! I think they are a straight swap though so don't worry if you want them and the car hasn't got them at the minute

Sorry, just realised how opened ive left that...its a 1.2 grande beast.

Is the upgrade a renault jobbie or do certain websites have them? Ive had a nose through esp and only found something called 'halo' lamps - is this them?

Apologies for sounding so stupid, but owning a Ford since passing my driving test (having an Xr2i and a Zetec S) i know absolutely nothing about clios!

Ive also had 4 years of 'modifying' experience and have now grown out of it, so i'l be keeping the clio bog standard, but just these lights do look rather attractive..

Tbh i'd check out the autotrader & see what models of the same year & spec are up for (you don't mention what the x reg clio is) so its hard for any one on here to say if its a good price.

The headlights your refering to are the 'double optic' ones (i think thats what they are called) sorry i have no idea if they give better lighting.

I loved Fords till they start falling apart and rattling! Ive seen pictures of a late 2005 Zetec S rusting already! But we wont go there...!

Whats the clio mk2 phase 1 like? Is it decent or shall i pay the bit extra and go for the face lift phase 2?

Id say that the price your uncle is wanting for the clio seems like a fairly good price to me but you did'nt mention what its got on the clock so im just assuming that it has the average for its year!

Not much difference betweed phase 1 and phase 2 lights.
I still like my rear phase 1 lights now and I'm not to going change it.
