hi all new to this fourm ! looking to get a valver soon what are the main things i should be looking out for when i go to view one ? also what is the main cause of the gear box trouble i.e my old rover was fine aslong as you didnt launch it away from lights ! any help will be usefull cheers jay :cheers:

Cambelt replacement around 70K V expensive if not been done,
Can pop out of gear on overun, but an easy fix, just a new g/box mount @ about £40.
General rust, rear arches n sils. Bodge jobs on replacement parts, especially if perfomance parts.
Check all electrics work,S/roof mirrors windows ect.
Regular oil changes are a must.
General sevice history.
Quick cars that get drivven hard, you want to look for accident dammage.


Great cars tho + quite quick.
How much u spending? what year you aiming for?

prefrebly around the m plate ideally need to sell what i have now first really but if the right one comes along i will take it !

Welcome to the club.
Valvers are cool (I had one for three years) just make sure you get a good one otherwise they can be expensive, so check for bills etc for any work done - like clutch etc.
Also check the rear arches as they are prone to rust.

na i go there every thurs lol did go friday but it was empty so left early ! i used to come over bury farily often in a purple nova 2.0 16v was lowerd on 16s

not sure on engine been reading thro the site seeing what has worekd for people and what hasnt ive had a 13 sec car befor so its hard to get that from another hatch without spending the money i did ! i just love the look of them on rims and decked so that will be the first job and go from there

Yeah as you say, you gotta spend the £££ otherwise it ent worth it, I have to get the real speed kicks from my motorbike(not in this weather tho)

What was the 13sec car?

i had a nova 2.0 ltr which ran 14.8 and a 2.0 turbo which ran 13.6 but i had to sell it as i had spend way over budget on it ! i have always liked the clio tho all the way thro just fancy a change from vauxhall now had to many the last few years!

howdy....yeah rich's valver is very nice..probably the best modded valver in the club...

yeah look out for the usual...if its a project i would just look for one with a good engine and then work on the paint etc...if not you can get real nice ones for around £2000 - £2500
