I have just recently acquired a 52 plate 172. Couople of questions: should it have trip computer and cruise control? mine does not but I have found out it is an import!

Also, a few little problems with it too...

The windows make a squealing noise when in use ( a friend suggested using a silicon spray on it? or would WD40 do?)

Also the internal central locking switch doesnt work - any ideas of how to fix this without taking to renault?

And finally, the cd changer under the passenger seat is missing the main cartridge where you insert the cd's. I ve heard i can buy this direct from renault for £15 - is this right or is there somewhere cheaper.

It should have a trip computer. All models above a 1.2 8v have trip computers!? Your car won't have cruise control unless fitted as an option by the orginal buyer.

The windows? Welcome to french ownership!

'The central locking switch doesn't work', do you mean, that when you set off, it doesn't automatically lock the doors? If this is the case, hold the switch in, for 3-4 secs, and it should beep. This has activated the automatic central locking.

CD changer? No idea, sorry.

If it doesn't have a trip computer somethings definately wrong.

it just has the standard total mileage on the top and a resettable mileage below it. The button on the stalk is there to activate the trip computer but nothing happens when you press it! maybe there is just a problem with that too as the central locking button on interior has no effect either when pressed (for however many seconds!)
