Next model down from 182

The misses wants to get a new shape clio, 182/172 are out of the question for insurance requirments and a 1.2 is just not enough (as i will be driving it for a bit too!) - is there a 1.6 or 1.8???

Cheers! dont sound too bad! (she has a 1.2 5 door corsa at the mo!) - just looked on autotrader, get an 02 reg for cheap money!

110bhp sounds pretty good imo especially seen as the 1.6 weighs less.

if i were to choose though.. 110hp petrol Vs 100hp DCI both will get great economy petrol will make a better noise and better to drive but the DCI will be much faster through gears than a 1.6 due to torque (100hp with tuning box and more torque than a 182) 250nm = 183 lbft

you will get cheaper insurance on a dci and at least 45mpg if not in the 50s.

Yup, theyre a variable vane turbo iirc. Cracking liitle cars actually the Dcis....make more sense than the 1.6 imho which is neither one nor the other - not fast, not frugal. I bet theyre wouldnt be a great deal between them once up and running but the dci will get you 50+ mpg...

Id definatly recomend the dci 80 over the 1.4 and 1.6. Im not out to have a go at petrols but the 80 and 100 dcis make about 5~10% more than they claim hp wise, are quieter (I find they are) and much more economical by about 50% over there petrol counterparts. The extra torque at low revs makes for a better drive with Renault boxes I find since the boxes arnt the best thing ever so the less downshifting you have to do the better. They will be quicker than petrols since they have much higher adverage HP at lowere RPM.

The dcis are turbo though yes and multi bla bal bal just go for a drive in both and even if she likes them to the same degree ask her to check the economy. Plus road funds £85 not £120 or whatever the 1.6s are.

  Titanium 182

just sold a 1.6 dynamique + for the 182. Not a bad car at all and new models come with so many bits that didnt have (even though it was an 02 reg).

Power is good. Only sold it as Id promised my self a Williams and 172 but never got round to it so it had to be done before I decide to have kids.

Mate at work had a 1.6 Dynamic+ for 3 years. It was a cracking car - no problems at all. Shes just p/xed it for a new 182 Cup in inferno :D
