Nikon D50...£290.00

  Mondeo STTDCI
+18-55mm f3.5/5.6 G ED whatever that means.

I want a decent ish camera to take landscape city shots etc but dont want to spend over £350 really and cant be paying out more for lenses and that.

Dave don't be blinkered into buying an SLR camera. If your budget is £350 and you can't run to further lenses then think maybe a high end compact.

I've spent almost 3k on camera gear since getting my 350D. Admittedly I've taken some amazing photo's but I wonder if you're trying too hard.

That lens is average at best. You could buy a high end Fuji Finepix or a Panasonic Lumix and get both a wannabe SLR, as well as a fantastic kitted camera for the same money.

Don't rush into it. :) I'm sure ukaskew (Chris) will back me on this one.

^ ill back you up.

Depends what you want to do with you camera.
How often you gunna use it? If it an everyday thing then you dont wanna be carrying round a huge camera.
Do you want lots of creative control over tthe pictures or you just getting quick snaps? Ect...

You could get a really good compact for that price, i only really got the D50 because i got really into photography and im doing a degree in it next year, TBH i dont use it to much, probably would of been happier with a good compact.

Absolutely, £290 will not be the final cost if you go with the D50. You will want (regardless of what you think at the moment) at least a 55-200mm telephoto zoom sooner or later, another £100+ gone.

That and the 18-55mm kit lens are surprisingly good, but won't really offer you anything spectacular over a decent super-zoom/bridge camera, and with that you won't have the hassle of changing lenses/dirty sensors etc. Might be worth looking for a second-hand Panasonic FZ20 or FZ30, I sold mine for in September for £250 but I took some superb photos with it. 2 years with that got me a long way into the world of photography, the pictures from that are still generating more interest than my new D50 efforts (only yesterday a picture from my FZ20 days was used for a advertising brochure design)

The D50 is stunning but only really goes above and beyond a bridge camera if you are pretty serious about photography. I've spent £1000 on mine now, mainly through selling loads of stuff and pooling all Birthday/Christmas money together! I know very very few people who have bought a DSLR and still only have the kit lens.

I have 5 lens with my DSLR oops  I'd better sell a couple I think.

With an 18-55 only you'll be fairly restricted in the range of city/landscape shots you can take, I'd go for a bridge camera with a good zoom range if I were you, you can then zoom in on architectural features and such like.
