Nintendo DS and DS Lite

Can anyone tell me, Is a Nintendo DS the same as a DS Lite, or are they different? If they are different what is the difference?

lol the DS lite is lighter.

The DS lite is a little smaller than the DS and has a much nicer screen. The colour are a lot more vibrant on the lite.
