Nintendo Wii recall

  172 Cup
Or are they?

The Japanese electronic game maker Nintendo said it was not recalling motion-sensing controllers for its new Wii model but would exchange wrist straps that have broken inadvertently.

"Nintendo is not recalling wrist straps furnished with the motion-sensing remote control unit for its new computer game Wii," the company said in a French-language statement received in Paris.

"There is no problem with the current wrist strap if it is used reasonably and instructions furnished by Nintendo in user manuals included with the game are followed," the statement added.

There is nothing wrong with the straps and no one aside from a few insurance fraudsters has had any issues with remotes smashing teeth, TV's or Windows.

None of the games require you to swing it about that hard and even if you did let go it is too light to do much damage.

This is just a clever piece of marketing by Nintendo. They have taken a leaf out of Sony's book of bullsh*t e.g. the old PS3 cures cancer story and the one about PS2 exports to axis of evil countries being banned because they could use the computing power to make weapons of mass destruction!!! Yeah right!

Nintendo have just got themselves tens of millions of pounds worth of advertising for free. Fair play to them, smart move.

It's only the american Nintendo site thats updated atm, guess the UK link will take a few days if indeed the UK ones are being recalled.

"Recall" is just media hype, they never announced a recall iirc, just offering free replacements to those that want/need them.
