No blowers, shorted pins + new motor. Still nothing

  172 berg, Fabia VRS
As above. Ive shorted pins 1 and 5 nothing happened.

bought a used motor and fan etc and still nothing.

if the fans dont come on when i short pins 1 and 5 does that rule out the resistor pack or am i missing something here?

All controls on the unit itself work fine.

cheers guys

You need to check fuses before you can rule out the resistor or fan. Believe there is a control relay too?

Check the (?Green) fuse under the bonnet (i checked everyone in the cabin & under the bonnet just to be sure), there is also a relay on another board but nearest to that fuse, that needs to be checked that its getting power too.

Have you confirmed the motor actually works by trying it direct from the battery?

I am currently going through the same troubleshooting with mine - replaced the resistor (nothing) , then thought it was the relay but removed the motor and its definitely that. Check my thread that is currently running, has some links that i have been referring to with mine.

Mine is still bust, just waiting for my replacement motor to turn up and i should be good to go. Whether i still need to replace the resistor unit is unknown.

Your resistor pack could still be at fault with yours but before you know that you need to check the motor

The PWM pack in the ground leg so check to see if you have 12v at the fan terminals. If you've tried a new fan and sorted the control pack out and still doesn't run then it sounds like a supply or grounding issue.
