No fault code, but engine light flashing



Hi guys, getting fed up with this now tbh.

I have a really rough/shakey idle, although I think this might be normal..

However I keep getting the engine light flashing at me when idling for abit or in slow traffic.

No fault codes on code reader or RS tuner....

Changed coil pack, still doing it, correct plugs 6 months old...

Can't think what else could be causing this now, any ideas?

Oh and fuel economy is fine btw.

Any thoughts guys?

The flashing MIL denotes a level 2 fault meaning no generic ODB code is stored as non quite fit the bill. The fault is being flagged/flashed as it has the potential to damage the CAT. Most likely a wiring issue but you will need to get a tech have a look at the live data screen to see what's occuring and be sure to pay close attention to the various sensors especially the CTS, ATS and H02 values.

Thanks for that info mate. Thinking of taking it into Renault now to try get to the bottom of it.

What are the CTS and ATS sensors mate?

It's been to specialists but even they don't know :(

Who did it go to?

CTS - Coolant Temp Sensor
ATS - Air Temp Sensor

Personally, i'd advise you do not take it anywhere near a main dealer as they will use it as an excuse to extract all of your cash. Find decent diagnostics place in your area and they'll do the job for much less!

It's been to Birchdown and RS Tuning.

Although Birchdown were doing other specific jobs and the diagnosis wasnt their main priority...

RS tuning couldn't find anything though...

I'm that sick of if having a crap idle and flashing the light a main dealer might have to be the only answer :(

If neither Birchdown or Paul @ RST couldn't find it then I seriously doubt a main dealer will... they'll proberbly say it needs a new ECM!

Shame you're not exactly close to Nottingham as I love a challange me and i'd take a look at it for nothing.
 
Wish I was mate getting fed up of this now. Paul at RS tuning said after it had been on the RR it was "knocking" at the top end? Said it might be the s**t fuel it was running on, been on V Power ever since but still flashing lol :(
