No heatshield!?

  SchwepTek™
Found out the other day that i dont have a centre section heatshield and so the centre tunnel gets very hot inside the car.

Is this ok or should i really have one on there?

If yes, then where can i get one from?

scrap yard ..

I think you should get one because your gearlinkage and gearstickmounting are also getting hot. Might even melt the plastic used in the linkage between the stick and selector

It was probably removed as they rattle like f**k.

I've considered heatwrapping mine or sticking a tube full of tigerseal on the back and re-bolting it up.

Wrapping may be a batter option mate as you really don't want the rattle i've got at the minute!

It shouldnt rattle if its bolted and bent up correctly. Had probs in the past with various sections of heatshield but a 2 min job sorts it

I did notice that actually dude but completely forgot. I wouldn't worry in all honesty, mines been out for time and apart from getting the tunnel warm, it wont affect the linkage etc as the radiant heat underneath the car isnt anywhere near enough to melt anything. Airflow over the exhaust cools it.

I think also it wo'nt be that bad when driving the car.. But when parking it , standing still with the heat rising and no means of cooling , it may do damage ?

The exhaust can only really get so hot before it reaches a terminal heat, even at that, youll be fine :)
