no motorway speed and a pop

Hi all.

My little old 98 r red 1.4rt has no only developed oa pop from the exhaust when you come on a dn off the gas but also it does not like traveling at motorway speeds.It just doesnt like to pull up hill, the revs starts to go down a bit and it just sems to lack power to pull itself up hill. On flats its not too bad and down hill its fine.

Are they related?

Any help appriciated.

p.s has recently had a new exhaust from cat back fitted and has no leaks.

Sounds like its running lean, get the injector checked.

My old 1.4RT (R-reg) popped like hell when it developed a hole in the exhaust downpipe (where it goes down under the engine)

how do i check the injector????? what and why would it run lean????

ill have a look at the rest of the exhaust when it stops raining

ok exhaust seems ok as in no leaks.

still not sure how to test injector
