no power

hi i got this problem which started yestarday my car starts and drives ok when i take my time but when i go and put my foot down or when the revs go above 2500 rpm nothing happens it just struggles to pull what could be the problem :?

does it sound as if the exhaust is blowing as well ............u could be only running on 3 cylinders , plugs ???
