No sound

I've just done a full rebuild/reboot on my computer... (wiped it back to factory settings)

Now last time i did this my speaker hardware did the wee thing where it pops up and says that hardware has been found that there is no software for, do you want to search the web for it etc.

This hasn't happened yet, and i'm just wondering if there is anyway i can manually get it to search the web? As i haven't a clue what driver i need to download etc...

Hope this makes sense :D
Cheers!

FLOL..

No good with computers, so u decide to reboot etc by urself?

oh dear!

LOL what can i say.. i'm bold as ;)

It's all done and working fine, bar the bloody speakers - canny get my Rave tunes on now :(!!

You need the drivers.

You'll also need chispet and VGA drivers, but those will probably work with vanilla drivers with low performance.

where do i get the drivers from tho?

Last time when i switched it on a box popped up from windows saying we've found the following hardware do you want to let us search the web for the drivers etc etc

i clicked yes, it worked done.

Didn't happen this time tho :( and i dont have a clue what make etc the sound card is... so manually downloading the driver is out of the question.

  Scirocco GT 2.0
XP = Control Panel > System > Device Manager

Click the Scan for Changes button

Vista = Control Panel > Device Manager

Click the Scan for Changes then right click on the device with the yellow question mark and update driver software, search online for drivers also.

If that doesn't work then there are programs including PCI32.exe which can be run to tell you which sound card you have then you can download/install the driver manually

DriverAgent will prob tell you too

PCI32.exe involves command prompt etc so that's plan B because I cba to explain.

Try http://driveragent.com/ first. It costs to let them point you in the direction of the drivers automatically but it's free just to check what hardware you have

Tbh though it's a bit concerning that it's not showing in device manager
