Non-Standard map

I posted a thread a while ago asking if anyone could identify the possible map on my car and I still haven't found out.

Basically it has a raised limiter of around 7800 and also the cold limiter is non-existent, so theoretically if I wanted to I could start the engine then bounce it off the rev limiter (7800rpm) on a stone cold engine if I wanted to be stupid. I believe there was something called a Group-N ecu replacement RSTuner did years ago? Reason I ask is, it maybe that what is the non-standard map is on my car.

Get hold of someone with an RSTuner, plug it into your car and it should show the software version/calibration details. It will also show you the programming/flashing history.

You dont need a licence for your car to do this, I used mine for diagnostics on other peoples cars when I had it and all this info showed up on theirs, unfortunately got rid of it.

If you can find the software version, calibration details or programming history details (all on the main RSTuner screen) by doing this you may be a step closer to finding out :)

Cheers Jord.

I take it, it'll still work even if it isn't the standard ECU that's fitted?

Should do yeah, its worth a try anyways, wont cost you anything if you know someone who has got one, 2 minutes of a job to plug it in and connect!

  a thirsty one
i know the rs tuning map although the max rev limit is raised it still has the lower limits based on oil temp so you could on rev upto 6250/6500, then upto 7200 then 7800 or something similar as temps increase.

not sure if the rstuner map has that or not but im sure someone with that kit will tell you.

no contact with previous owner?

Tried contacting the previous owner about it but had no reply from him. I did buy the car from the Leeds area so my initial thought was it'd been mapped at RSTuning, tried contacting them but they don't store details of registrations, so they couldn't tell me if the car had been mapped there.
