None Standard Backbox

Ive recently bought a 172 and it has a none standard backbox but i havnt got a clue what make it is.

Could it make the car have less power rather than more?

Not driven many 172's before this one so dont really know.

As standard in 2nd is there a very noticable powergain at 5000rpm or should it be pulling fast before that??

Could a backbox reduce your bhp is it wasnt a good one though??

It shouldn't be worse than standard. If it's stainless, it'll probably be the same as standard bhp but won't fall to pieces.
