nOOb question

  Black 182 FF
Recently I've been trying to improve the look and paintwork on my 182. I bought some Meguiars Scratch x and used it on a few areas (results were average, but better than nothing) and also some Autoglym Super Resin Polish, which seems to be improving things after a couple of coats and has visibly (albeit temporarily) filled a few scratches.

However I've been looking on here and on eBay and I'm after something to go on top of the SRP as a more glossy/shiny finish. Two things I've came accross is Collonite 476 and Dodo Juice purple haze (about a fiver cheaper).

Can anyone recommend anything which doesn't break the bank ( -£20) to do a reasonable job for me, baring in mind I'm a total noob at this and just want to make my car look a bit better.

polish polish polish!!! thats where the shine comes from, wax is just a LSP.

2 products which are very good to apply before you use SRP are Megs Ultimate Compound and Swirl X.
UC is the more abrasive of the two and both will genuinely polish your paint rather than "fill"

However SRP is great as a stand alone "do it all" polisher to be applied by hand.

Wax_ Colly 476 is great, but not the "wettest" of looks.

no experince with Black Gold....but I think Swiss Onyx works well???

LSP?

I've also got some Autoglym deep shine for dark colours or something, used it after the SRP last week and it gave a good shine, haven't got much left though so was going to try something else when it runs out, however with you mentioning using things before SRP, maybe I'll give those a look.

I'll have a look about and read up on Swiss Onyx, never heard of it before.

Cheers

I use Poorboy's Black Hole glaze, followed by Natty's Paste Wax. Both bring up a nice shine on the car.

LSP = Last step/stage product.

I use SRP (polish)> EGP Extra gloss protection (autoglym) (sealant)> Then 467 colly wax. (durable as feck)

When im giving the car some love.

iirc, srp just fills in the swirls/scratches, doesn't actually correct it, but it is the best polish out there if using your hands to polish :)

lsp = last stage product/protection?

the key to it all is the prep work mate, think of wax as the final layer to protect all your hard detailing work.

if your doing it properly i would clay the car before polishing.

have a look at Meguiar's Mirror Glaze #16 Paste Wax, cheap and last ages on the car: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5pFfU-ji8Ug&feature=related
