Noobie Wipers Question

Sorry for the really dumb question... but how do I know if I have automatic wipers...? I've got an 03 1.2 dynamique, and it does have auto headlights, but coming home today I put the wipers onto what I thought was Intermittent (with the ring on the stalk at various positions - which I thought would change the timing of the wipe), but they wiped once then never did anything else.

Now I've just got home and got out the manual, and it says if you don't have auto wipers then this second position is for the variable intermittent wipe, but if you do, you move the stalk to the second position, it sweeps once (which mine did), then the "ring" selects the sensitivity of the wipers.

Mine swept once, then never did anything else, even set to the maximum sensitivity - but it was only fairly light rain.

Have I got auto wipers, and it wasn't enough rain to make them sweep, or have i not get 'em and the timer thing for the variable speed is fooked so only wipes once then that's it?

Sorry.. only picked the car up this w/e and am trying to get used to all the gadgets!

Cheers in advance if anyone can help ;)

As far as I remember on my dynamique I used to have to set the sensitivity first then switch to postion 1 with the stalk, if it was already set to postion 1 the sensitivity did nothing. Maybe something to try.

Da

  Less
Dynamiques have them as standard don't they? If you've got auto headlights it's part of the same option pack iirc.

My 51 plate 1.2 Dynamique had them. They only work in stalk position 1 and every time you turn you ignition off and on again you have to turn them on again.

Ahhh, that would make sense - it was set to minimum sensitivity already when I switched them to position 1, then I was fiddling with the setting and it did nothing... and the rain was really light so yeah I guess that's why they didn't move.

Ahh yes I read that in the manual too. Cool will remember that.

Cheers everyone, will have a go tomorrow, looks like it's going to rain.

yeah you need to turn them on every start, but they do take ages to kick in basically its a game of chicken between you and the wipers to see who back off first before you cant see anything, if you want to know wait till a down pour then go onthe motor way, if you have auto wipers they will go faster the faster you go. same way if your radio can be set to get louder the faster you go.
but the wipers are alay unto them selves and do what the hell thay want any way, that adjuster ring is just for fiddling with. you might be curious if you try your fogs and they doen come on, they just done work in auto light mode, to use them you need to switch to manual, you do that my turning on the lights at the stalk,
As its new but check that the rear speakers have been turned on because you can disable them from the head unit, i checked a couple of peoples at work and they were still turned off, It seems they came with them turned off, and unless you regularily have rear passengers you would not notice, infact i wasnt sure i had rear speakers at first coz my saxo had the louvers but no speakers behind them.
you should also have heater mirrors, they only work when the rear window heater is on, i only found out one of the elements is dead on mine, is that covered under warrnaty?

enjoy the clio,

Thanks for the info - yeah it was quite funny I was driving along trying not to flick the wipers cos it was getting hard to see, seeing if they'd kick in but they didn't ;)

Haven't noticed about the fogs yet but will remember that for future.

When you say rear speakers, do you mean the ones in the back down the sides by the passenger seats?? They seem to be fine, are there any others up in the parcel shelf? I noticed the grooved bit and I wasn't sure if there was supposed to be any sound coming from there or not but there isn't...

I've not needed to check the heated mirrors yet, but it's a second-hand car from a small independant garage so I doubt they'd do anything about it if they didn't work.

You will have speakers in the dash, front doors and next to the rear seats (If the £200 CD + Speaker package was purchased)

Yeah that sounds about right, I was sat in the back cleaning the car with the radio on yesterday and it had speakers next to the seats.

yeah its the one next to the rear seat mine were turned off and so where the other guys i looked at, it made me wonder if the previous owner had been driving my one about not realising she had rear speakers.
I know the groovy bits your on about over the boot onthe pillar, i was thinking of a way to hide some speakers in there, you could stick some more of the 5 inch speakers under there, but i dont think you could wire them to the standard head unit,
