Not happy!

Went for a drive with my mate tonight and whilst travelling back over from Cadishead to Irlam along the cadishead way I noticed a massive patch of white paint. I had no choice but to drive through it as my mate was behind me and there was other cars on the otherside of the road.

Got home to find white paint all over sill, door, wheels and wheel arches. Just spent ages in the dark with a torch trying to clean it off. No idea what the neighbours thought if they saw me washing the car while it's pitch black. I think I've got most of it off but it's hard to tell with it being pitch black outside. I'll just have to see what it's like in the morning. As the title says, I'm not very happy at the moment.

You may be able to clay it off. I had some specs of paint on my car and was able to polish it off.

Can be got off easy enough in the morning mate, most products like tar remover etc should take it off easy enough.

Bit random though? What kinda of paint are we talking? Random overturned tin of emulsion? Or a big spill of road painting paint?

Gutted mate hopefully you will have got it all. I remember when some nob shot one of my old cars with a paintball luckily that washed off too.

I think it's someone's idea of a prank to be honest, a while ago some tit decided to paint "ALL COPPERS ARE b******s" in big red letters in the middle of the road on Liverpool road.

I'm not sure what type of paint it is, when I was washing it off it felt abit rubbery :S. I'm presuming it's paint anyway, took ages to remove it.

If tar and glue or normal washing doesn't remove it, get some gun wash. (Used in bodyshops)

Its what I used to remove tar/white road paint/stupid touch ups. It pisses it off.

Make sure the car is well polished after though as it strips all the product off the paint.

Cheers Daniel.

Had the day off work today so I went out to inspect the car this morning and it was alot worse than I thought. Nearly every body panel was speckled with tiny spots of this white paint. Went out and bought some tar remover and spent nearly 4 hours in all getting all this s**t off and I've still not managed to get it all yet. After 4 hours I was really getting pissed off and I'd had enough.
I'll get the rest of it off on Sunday when I'm off work again.

Gutting mate.

But TBH, at least its not sunny these days, otherwise the sun would dry it up even more and make it even harder to get off!

Yeah I suppose, it's been cold and dry mainly today which has helped me cleaning it off. Glad the rain has decided to stay away because if it was pissing down the body work would be constantly wet making it harder to locate all the specks of paint.

exactly that mate, i havent ever came across anything that removes tar/resin from paintwork so quickly.

Spray on, go have a cup of tea, come back, rub off

I swear by it, the very same thing happened to my bros ST took me 2 hours to sort...!

This is going to sound rather stupid mate but do you know if it was oil based paint or water based?

I'm really not sure what type of paint it is, don't think it's water based because the bits that I've managed to remove has felt like a rubbery texture. It's really stubborn to remove though, takes alot of effort to get it off.

My little cousin decided to paint my uncles mercedes one day with some emulsion. You can get it off with a good clean! Polish/tar remover etc.

If its gloss i seriously doubt it, i got some on mine form a spilt paint can and it was all over my sills, never did get it off but i didnt try really, i would imagine an abrasive polish will remove it, if you dont have a machine polisher and you dont care about the cars paintwork (your the kinda of person that washes a car with a sponge), then get somet cut scrath remover, im sure if you get that on it itll eventually come off.

Aye well normally with water based paints (emulsion) you can get away with boiling water and a cloth. Oil based gloss's are an absolute nightmare but its not the end of the world, id certainly give that sticky stuff a bash, its a cheap alternative to clay bars/machine polishing....?

Yeah I will give it ago, like I say most of it has gone now but there is the odd spot of it here and there but it's taken some time to remove.

Cheers mate.

Sad to read this jon, I know how you feel, it takes ages to get it all off and is really tedious.

Just stick at it is all I can say. Next time slam those anchors on! :)

I wish I could of mate but I couldn't because my mate in his CTR was right behind me. If I slammed on he'd have ended up in my boot. lol. Like I say I just had to drive through it :(
