Number plate LED's

Always fancied some of those bright white/blue leds to replace the yellow bulbs that light up the number plate. So few Q's....

Are they legal?
What type of bulb?
And where do i get them?

Does anyone have a picture with some changed over?

I think they add a fresher look to the car.

dont know if this is still a question for you but im thinking about the number plate light too, iv spent a while google searching and i havent come accross anything to say colours are illegal, and found this which states that any colour is OK (but im not sure) http://www.ukemergency.co.uk/information/bluelightuse.htm

i remember reading somewhere that that any light on the back is legal as long as it emits a constant red light, but cant remember where. but i think im gonna try a red LED on mine, worst that can happen is likely to be a 30 quid fine i think

Number plate lights must be white (Resource: I got stopped)
And they don't give you a fine unless their c***s Most dont care aslong as you fix it

i think it might be one of those things that are obscure enough that most officers might not be right on it, im playing it safe though have ordered red and white and plan to keep the white in the car just in case

after fitting front sidelight LED's i reckon popping another couple holes in would give a semi angel eyes/full on cool look, so one in the dipped reflector and one in the full reflector, but wel see how that pans out lol

Just buy angel eyes if you want them, instead of hashing together some diy job.

first 2 both fit, the number plate bulb is essentially a stubby tail light, single filiment.

sc03ott mate if i wanted them your right i would buy them, iv used semi angel eyes as a rough descript of the twin sidelighting thing i mean, lousy description i know, basically all im thinking of doing is putting in a second sidelight bulb in each light as i reckon it will look cool, might look crap in which place il take them out and will have wasted an hour on a nice scottish day and 3 quid, seems worth the risk for a nice and unique look, no?

lol ye i might just brave it regardless on sunday :S

anyway on the earlier point about legals i found this which gives a pretty defintive answer http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1989/1796/schedule/15/made to the law on colours for the plate light, think i might chsnce the red anyway but will defo carry the white, once it comes might find the white looks best anyway? will see

PS the law says white, but of any voltage/etc
