Number plate removal

Afternoon all,

Just had some private plates made up for the T and i'm stumped on how to remove the originals? I can't seem to see any screw heads surely they didn't rivet these buggers on from factory?

Poor picture but you get the idea?

Cheers

That looks like a painted over phillips screwhead?

If not, get some snips and cut up the plate towards the screw. you'll get part way, and the rest will snap off. Once snapped off, theres no tension from the plate to hold whatever that is securing it in, so should just twist out. If not, twist it out with mole grips.

I had to get a plate off like this a few weeks back as the screwheads had eroded.

Mine were Rivets. I had to drill them.

Probably the easiest thing to do, if there causing hassle. If you do drill them, keep enough pressure and don't use too big a drill piece.

they were indeed rivets! who at renault thought that that was a good idea!?!?!, going to have to make a trip to b&q for some decent velcro as the holes are too small and I don't fancy drilling into the car just to fit a set of plates ;)

cheers
