Number plates

I don't know where is the right section to post this but just a question about number plates

I'm currently looking at different private plates to see if any would suit for me (I know its not to a lot of peoples taste so don't tell me no to bother thanks )

I haven't found any on the sale sites I like but I have some in mind but can't seem to find if they are registered to a car or not.

I have used http://www.freecarcheck.org/ to try and find out but this is coming back with nothing for one of the plates..

the number plates are:

G4 RYC - Currently no information on
G47 YWC - Skoda Estelle 120 L (currently unlicensed)

I was wondering does anyone know how to find out about the top plate and also if there is any chance of getting in touch with the owners of the plates they own to see if they will sell up for me :star:

I see it is not being sold as a private plate but it doesn't seem to be registered to a car so someone somewhere may have this and may sell it. but I don't know how to gain more information to be able to contact them to see

I don't think you can gain info of who owns the rights to a plate if it's not the DVLA.

I certainly wouldn't want a random person making contact with me to buy one of my plates off me, I'd want to know how they had found the plate and then found my address and contact details, and also be worried about who te person was now knowing what I own and where I live

I've bought all of my plates directly thru the DVLA registration sites, as already listed above.

I've got
K12 COS
K12 FRS
K400 WRC
K16 BUB

And just bought K16 CUP

Yeahh I understand, its just that I like the number plates and would want to own one, btw what meaning do your private plates have to you??

K12 COS is on my Escort Cosworth.
K12 FRS is on the Focus RS
K400 WRC is on the Jeep tow vehicle.
K16 BUB is on the misses Clio 182 I always call her Bub so that's self explanatory.
I wanted it to be K12 BUB, it was available when I first looked but 2 months later when I went to buy it had sold, so we went for K16 instead as she was 16 when I met her (that's now almost 10 years ago tho!)
K16 CUP is going to go on my new 172 Cup car, K12 wasn't available so ive gone for what matched the misses car.
