I want to hook up my laptop, and eventually after i know what I am doing hook up a screen in the car to display information.

Can the oil pressure, temperature be read from this? What else can be read?

Also, what sort of software is best for diagnostics and what software would look cool in car?

Can the climate control be accessed from this?

I am not looking to mess about with the car, just learn about reading the information, then probably advance to the can-bus system.

thanks.

Ive always wanted to do this! Ive seen it done where you can check quite a few things like oil pressure, temp, engine temp, vacum on the engine etc but I cant remember what the software is called, or where you get it. saw it at max power live!

Yeh, I think it would look cool, plan view of the car, and loads info that can be selected.

So far I have found the leads and some software, just looking for a good GUI for an in car setup. I would want to replace the centre warning lights panel on the speedo with a small display as well.

What has he used to hook the pda up with? I already have my satnav pda installed, so this could be an easy route to start with.

In another thread someone showed pictures of the display on his Digimoto software than runs in either a PC or a PDA and connects to the OBDII port through an interface unit. He had it connected to a Megane. It looked good. I tried contacting Digimoto to see if they knew whether it worked on a Clio Sport. I never got any response.

The Clio CAN networks different so normal software won't do much.
The port is under the ashtray take the asktray out and you'll see a little plastic cover covering the connector.
The availiale software only works on upto 1998 models I belive the only one which does it all is the offical Renault clip laptop but thats £2.7k

Be carefull with some of the ones off ebay, ive seen a few cockups from them where customers have managed to damage stuff.

To get anything decent your looking at professional spec readers.

Ok then ^^^^

If you are going to install the HKS on you might aswell install an "autoPC" which i believe you can get in a single DIN, just think anything could be possible then!
